Our second year of chaplain training was a big success. On May 24 & 25, twenty-nine fire chaplains, police chaplains, and other clergy from four states completed the two-day class in "Pastoral Crisis Intervention" from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
We're already beginning to plan for training on May 16-17, 2011. Possibilities include the ICISF's suicide class, the basic Critical Incident Stress Management individual or group classes, the Federation of Fire Chaplains basic course, or the International Conference of Police Chaplains basic course. If you have any recommendations, contact Chaplain David Williamson (our pastor).
Other upcoming chaplain training in the area:
+ The Federation of Fire Chaplains is holding its national training conference in nearby (5 hours away) Cincinnati. The preconference training on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 16-17, includes the Fire Chaplain Basic Course, the ICISF suicide course, and the pastoral crisis intervention course. The main conference is Oct. 18-21. Visit www.FireChaplains.org to learn more.
+ Region 4 of the International Conference of Police Chaplains is offering their basic course in March just outside Toledo. More information will be coming out soon.
