CHAPLAIN TRAINING A SUCCESS!
The 2013 chaplain training seminar, co-sponsored by St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Hermitage Fire-Rescue, and the Hermitage Police Department, saw 56 dedicated men and women from 7 states trained in "Managing School Crises: From Theory to Application."
Held on May 6 & 7 at Hermitage Fire Station 3, the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation course was taught by Dr. Tina Brookes, who was "on scene" as a chaplain following the Aurora CO theater massacre and the Newtown CT school massacre. She had many valuable insights about how to respond with compassion and skill in the event of a school crisis.
A diverse class -- including educators, fire chaplains, police chaplains, firefighters, police officers, emergency medical responders, and clergy -- meant well-rounded discussions.
Our class photo will be posted here soon. And watch this site for news about next year's seminar.
